Last winter, some of the biggest property tax increases in Chicago landed on the West Side. Families in the 29th Ward can’t take another hike.
Mayor Johnson lives in Austin. He knows what another hike would do here. Last year, he ruled out a property tax increase. This year, facing an $882 million budget gap, he won’t rule one out. His budget is expected in mid-October.
