The 45th Ward Deserves Safe, Clean Parks
Families should not have to explain why neighborhood parks are filling with tents and trash while City Hall looks away.
Public parks should be safe, clean spaces where neighborhood families can gather, play, and spend time together.
Instead, 45th Ward residents have watched encampments move from one park to another without a lasting plan from Mayor Brandon Johnson’s City Hall.
Chicago can be compassionate toward people experiencing homelessness without surrendering the public spaces that families depend on. The Urban Center is organizing 45th Ward residents who are ready to demand cleaner parks, real solutions, and accountable leadership.
Brandon Johnson is lowering the bar. We don’t have to.
