Amtrak has proposed a massive rail maintenance facility at 33rd and Canal, next to homes and just one block from Armour Square Park.

Federal funding was announced before nearby residents were informed. Neighbors still have not been shown a site plan, an environmental impact study, or clear answers about around-the-clock noise, diesel fumes, and truck traffic.

Amtrak still needs City approval. Before anything moves forward, the residents who will live with the consequences deserve a real plan, real answers, and a meaningful seat at the table.

The Urban Center is organizing 11th Ward residents to make sure nothing gets approved or built without this community being heard.
